The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party

The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party

Friday 14 April 2017 from 2.30pm-4pm

Hotham Park Heritage Trust are delighted to have commissioned a hand-carved wooden sculpture which will be crafted by Simon Groves to depict the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. The design is an 8ft x 2.5ft table with clocks in each corner, playing cards down the centre and 8 mushrooms as seating, with the Mad Hatter as a separate figure.

It will be a permanent feature in the Park and the grand unveiling will be at 2.30pm on Friday 14 April 2017 by his Worship the Mayor. Knightstar Productions, Youth Theatre Group will entertain with songs from the Disney musical Alice in Wonderland, and children are invited to come along in fancy dress if they wish. The Mad Hatters Tea Party will begin shortly after the unveiling. We look forward to welcoming children along to the Tea Party, please bring picnic blankets for the children to sit on.

The theme of Alice in Wonderland was chosen by local schoolchildren and the cost of this sculpture has been met from funds raised by the Hotham Park Heritage Trust Country Fair which was held over the first weekend of August 2016.

Your support during our events is invaluable and we hope to introduce more exiting developments in the Park over the coming months and years. If you can help us in any way we would love to hear from you.
